Pay to GooeyPixels?

Postby LadyPakenham » Sat Aug 31, 2013 12:08 am

Hi everyone,

This is my first time making an announcement as a mod, so bear with me. If you check some of the threads listed below, you'll see there's an issue regarding payments through PayPal being redirected to an unknown organization called "GooeyPixels".

Again, I'm just a mod, and I have nothing to do with the maintenance of the website in general or the creation/update of the games. Therefore, I don't have a thorough understanding of how the payment system works (other than that it uses PayPal), and I can't say for certain that this is a scam. However, it looks extremely suspicious to me, especially since Googling "GooeyPixels" doesn't turn up much.

My PERSONAL advice to those of you thinking about buying the game is to NOT buy it until it's confirmed that the payment system is safe. I've contacted Marc Steene about this (though informally—through Facebook) and as of 8/30 he hasn't responded yet. I'm sure one way or another he'll put out an announcement to when things are straightened out.

If you HAVE bought the game and had a payment rerouted to "GooeyPixels", then please contact Marc directly (see "Contact" at the top of the page) and give him the appropriate details about your transaction. Be sure to include the date when you attempted to buy the game, and whether or not you actually ever got the download.

If you have bought the game and DIDN'T have any troubles getting the download, please tell us here. Include the date you bought the game. Hopefully then we'll get a better idea of when this started. Also include whether or not "GooeyPixels" was ever mentioned at any point during the transaction, if you remember.

Again, I'm definitely not a true member of the SMS team, but I'm certain that if this is indeed a scam, they never intended for something like this to happen and will resolve the issue. Those of you who paid a "GooeyPixels" for the game, regardless of whether or not you got the download, should monitor your PayPal accounts in case any fraudulent transactions occur.

Thank you so much for your patience, and know that we are all very sorry for any inconvenience this causes you. The best we all (forum members included) can do now is share/gather information, discuss, and wait for a resolution.

Note: I just noticed that it says "Locked" on this thread. I'm not sure why, because it isn't locked. Just click on the button as if it said "Post Reply".
